Wobei sich unser Leitender Concierge selbst nie so bezeichnen würde, dafür ist er viel zu be- scheiden und voller Respekt vor den Gästen, für die er möglich macht, was er kann. Das heisst: fast alles. Einmal wollte eine Frau ihrem Mann ein privates Überraschungskonzert mit „Simply Red“- Frontmann Mick Hucknall schenken. „Während die beiden im Res- taurant sassen, haben wir mit dem Kran ein Piano in ihre Suite ge- bracht, auf dem Mick spielte.“ Giuseppe Pesenti ist auch der Mann, der im Zweifel Leben retten kann. Wenn jemand in der Bergwelt seine Kräfte überschätzt oder Bauchschmerzen bekommt, kann er ihn gerne anrufen. Er wird dafür sorgen, dass er sicher abgeholt wird. Kein Wunder, dass dem Mann vom Comer See Gäste zum Geburtstag gratulieren. Obwohl sich „die Welt geändert hat“ seit 1999, als er im Badrutt’s Palace Hotel seine Stellung antrat. „Früher kamen vor allem Europäer, heute erwarten wir Gäste aus den Golfstaaten, China, Korea … Sie bringen neue, spannende Heraus- forderungen für meinen Traumjob mit.“ Nur einmal stiess Pesenti an Grenzen. Damals wollte ein Pakistaner Schweizer Kühe kaufen: „Das war nicht so einfach. Er wünschte sich zwanzig, ich bekam nur zwei.“ // e He is superman for everyone – although this is certainly not how our concierge would describe himself: he’s far too modest and respectful of the guests for whom he always does all that he can – well, almost everything. On one occasion, a woman wanted to give her husband a private concert by Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall as a surprise gift: “While the couple were sitting in the re- staurant, we used a crane to lift a piano into their suite, which Mick played.” Giuseppe Pesenti is also the man who can save lives at times of peril. If a guest overestimates their ability in the mountains or gets stomach ache, they are welcome to call him. He will ensure that they are picked up safely. So it’s no surprise that the man from Lake Como is congratulated by guests on his birthday. However, “the world has changed” since he started working at the Badrutt’s Palace back in 1999. “We used to mainly welcome guests from Eu- rope, whereas now we get visitors from the Gulf States, China, Ko- rea ...” They bring exciting new challenges for my dream job”, he says. Only once did Pesenti have trouble satisfying a request: one time, a Pakistani guest wanted to buy Swiss cows – “That wasn’t easy: He wanted twenty and I could only get hold of two.” //
